Shadow Realms is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by BioWare's Austin studio and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows. The game is scheduled to be released in 2015.
Shadow Realms is an episodic 4v1 story-driven online action role-playing game. Players are able to choose one of six classes, namely Warrior, Assassin, Wizard, Cleric, Ranger, Warlock or play against the Heroes as the Shadowlord. Each class has its own special attacks, abilities and strengths.
The game features dynamic co-operative missions in a constantly evolving world. New episodes for Shadow Realms will be released frequently, adding new elements to the game. Players will be able to make their own choices as to the path they take through the story.
In-depth character and combat customization options also feature, giving players the ability to progress as a powerful Hero and Shadowlord uniquely suited to their play-style, whether that means shooting a gun, wielding an axe or casting fireballs. The game provides a diverse set of abilities that can be mixed regardless of the class chosen.
Players can team up with three other heroes and take part in fast-paced tactical combat against a player-driven Shadowlord who controls creatures, sets traps and changes the environment, making the adventures and battles different each time. Just like the Heroes, the Shadowlord features broad character customization and shares the same 3rd person camera and control scheme. The key difference is that the Shadowlord remains unseen until they possess a monster, cast a spell or choose to reveal themselves.
Shadow Realms was first announced at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. At the event, BioWare released a live-action trailer titled You've Been Chosen, and more trailers have followed since then.
Further information was revealed at Gamescom 2014, with the first gameplay video also being shown.
